Carl Lavin

Carl works in the Investment Team and focuses on leading new investment opportunities in the Education and Training sector.

Carl’s been an investor in technology businesses since 1999 and has the grey hair to prove it. He’s been part of the investment teams at Deutsche Bank, Apax Partners, Exponent and Carlyle over the last 20 years before joining Tenzing in 2022.

Carl studied at Harvard Business School from 2004-06 and was the Founder and CEO of a mobile gaming firm. Whilst not a big success, he found it a good learning experience of the highs and lows of being an entrepreneur.

Carl loves being a part of successful teams. He has been on sports teams since he was six years old, with rugby and football being his main sports (he is still playing both, with his body just about holding up!). He loves being in teams with a positive “can do” culture, with real ambition, honesty and integrity, and where each team member is willing to put the team first. Carl feels at home as part of Tenzing’s team and is looking forward to being part of the team of the companies that Tenzing invests.

A quote Carl lives by

No pain, no gain.”
