Today, we’re proud to announce that our portfolio company Gravita, a tech-enabled provider of essential business services for UK SMEs, is joining forces with award-winning accounting firm Arram Berlyn Gardner (ABG).
The move is part of Gravita’s strategy to transform how small and medium businesses receive accounting services. The firm is leading a digital revolution that has paved a tech-centric path to set it apart from your average accountants. A combination of innovative tech and a market-leading approach to digital marketing has positioned it for fast growth in the space. By partnering with high-quality companies, its vision is to create a customer-driven platform with a niche focus on the SME market.
Gravita’s philosophy is grounded in delivering specialist industry knowledge, combined with a passion for innovation. Almost 5,000 clients use the firm’s award-winning audit, tax and business advisory services to capitalise on opportunities, plan better and grow faster.
ABG provides expert tax advice, accounting services and business support to various clients in a wide range of sectors, including property, technology, leisure, travel and entertainment. It shares Gravita’s track record of focusing on trusted, long-term client relationships and delivering expert advice to ambitious SMEs, individuals, and established and growing businesses. The two firms are a strong cultural fit and are excited by their shared vision for the future.
ABG is led by Paul Berlyn, who will continue as Managing Partner while leveraging the resource and support the Group has to offer. The ABG team will continue servicing all existing clients and retain its office in London. Paul said: “’We are extremely proud of the firm we have built over the past 50 years, but we also recognise the industry is evolving. We are thrilled to build for the future in partnership with Gravita, who share our commitment to exceptional client advisory service and who, like us, have a very close-knit, collegiate culture.”
Gravita and ABG coming together represents a significant tech-enabled professional services firm in London and the South East. The group will be led by serial entrepreneur Caroline Plumb OBE who was appointed in February 2022 as Group CEO to take the business through the next phase of growth. Caroline commented: “I’m delighted to welcome our new colleagues from ABG to Gravita. Both our firms are laser-focused on delivering a great experience to our clients and team, so there was clear alignment from the start. Our ambition is to build the UK’s leading tech-enabled accounting firm, and this investment marks a key milestone on our growth journey.
Christian Hamilton, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Tenzing, added: “The accountancy market is undergoing rapid transformation right now as a growing proportion of UK SMEs are outsourcing mission-critical tasks to expert providers. Gravita has increasingly differentiated itself from traditional firms through its early adoption of technology to enhance its service proposition, and the partnership with ABG sets the firm up for further growth across London and the South East.”
This is the tenth acquisition Tenzing has supported its portfolio companies with in the last twelve months.
