Today, we are pleased to announce that our portfolio company, Gravita, has acquired Godfrey Wilson, a leading Bristol-based accountancy firm specialising in charities, not-for-profit organisations and commercial clients. Gravita is a full-service accountancy and advisory firm on a mission to become a Top 25 national firm by 2030, combining expert advice with technology to help ambitious businesses and organisations thrive.

The acquisition significantly strengthens Gravita’s specialist not-for-profit capabilities, creating one of the UK’s leading accountancy firms serving the charity sector. Together, the business will support more than 1,100 not-for-profit organisations, ranging from local community groups to some of the UK’s best-known charities.

Based in Bristol, Godfrey Wilson has built an outstanding reputation as one of the UK’s leading specialist charity accountancy firms, recognised for its expertise and client service. The acquisition further strengthens Gravita’s presence in the South West while broadening its specialist advisory offering charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Lisa Mayhew, Chief Executive Officer of Gravita, commented:

“I’m delighted to welcome our new colleagues to Gravita as we continue our mission to become a Top 25 national accountancy and advisory firm. Growth for us is about finding partners who share our culture and values. In Godfrey Wilson, we’ve found a team that is both technically brilliant and deeply embedded in the South West community.

By bringing their talented specialists into Gravita, we’re strengthening our presence in Bristol while expanding our specialist support for the charity sector at a time when organisations are navigating increasing financial and regulatory pressures.”

Rob Wilson, Founding Partner at Godfrey Wilson, added:

“We’ve always been committed to providing expert, specialist advice to charities and commercial clients while remaining accessible and guided by strong ethical values.

Joining Gravita allows us to build on that vision. Our clients will continue working with the team they know while gaining access to a broader range of specialist services, including VAT and tax expertise, alongside continued investment in technology and innovation.”

Rob Jones, Investment Lead at Tenzing, added:

“We’re really pleased to see Gravita partner with a business of Godfrey Wilson’s quality. The team has built an excellent reputation in the not-for-profit sector and shares Gravita’s commitment to delivering high-quality advice and service to clients. This partnership strengthens Gravita’s specialist capabilities and marks another important step in the firm’s growth journey.”

This is the seventh strategic partnership Gravita has completed with the support of private equity partner Tenzing.
