Today, European tech investor Tenzing announced that its portfolio company DJH Mitten Clarke had completed its first acquisition of 2023, with Leeds practice, Novis & Co, joining the Top 50 Accountancy Group.
The partnership provides a springboard into West Yorkshire and the opportunity to grow the Group’s client base in the region. It is DJH Mitten Clarke’s latest move since receiving investment from Tenzing, which is set to accelerate the growth trajectory the firm is on.
Scott Heath, CEO of DJH Mitten Clarke said, “Following the launch of our specialist R&D office in Sheffield, it’s fantastic to enhance our presence within Yorkshire even further with a substantial office in Leeds. Our conversations with the team at Novis & Co opened up a new opportunity which was right for our business and a natural next step on our journey.”
Claire Howarth, Managing Director of Novis & Co, added, “After many successful years providing support and business advice for our clients, it was evident that for us to continue to develop and grow our business we needed to look for a partner to strengthen our infrastructure.
“DJH Mitten Clarke brings with it a number of specialist services, such as capital allowances, R&D, corporate finance and commercial & residential funding, along with group services such as marketing, learning and development and recruitment. Ultimately, all of this will enhance the advice and support that we offer to our clients.”
Mike Reynolds, Investment Lead at Tenzing, commented: “DJH Mitten Clarke has already firmly established itself as a regional leader in the accounting space and the acquisition of Novis & Co will enable it to grow its local footprint and service more clients. Scott and the management team are deeply passionate about only partnering with organisations with strong cultural alignment in order to protect the business’s unique approach to client delivery, and we’re confident Novis & Co is a great fit and will further enhance the offering.”
Morley will remain the home of the Novis & Co team, however, within the coming months, it will take on the DJH Mitten Clarke name, becoming the Leeds office for the Group. Claire will continue to lead the team, alongside fellow Director, Steve Tucker.
The news follows an outstanding two years for the Stoke-on-Trent-headquartered DJH Mitten Clarke, following a series of acquisitions in Chester, Manchester, Walsall and now Leeds. Ranked in the top two accountancy firms to work for in the UK in 2022 with Best Companies, DJH Mitten Clarke is fast out of the blocks for 2023.
Tenzing provided a dedicated Acquisitions Director to assist DJH Mitten Clarke with this acquisition. The firm has supported its portfolio companies in completing 16 acquisitions within the last 12 months.
